Battle with You

IMG 9006

I'll go white.
You'll go black.
I make the first move.
We play for eternity.
To hell with carelessness.
You're dangerous. Like an enemy.

Battle with you.
Rank of pawns.
Battle with you.
Behind the board.
Battle with you.
Edge of the earth.

The weather today isn't right
For checkmate in three moves!
Pawns are traded. Knights are free.
The rook moves across the field.

Battle with you.
Check to me with the rook.
Battle with you.
Behind the board.
Battle with you.
Heat in winter.

I parry the check. I'm flattered.
But you play dishonestly.
In broad daylight, you've got
A bishop jumping over a knight!

Rules can't be broken.
But from me — neither no nor yes.
Your lies have been enough.
I take your queen with my queen.

You made a blunder in haste.
And I have a pawn's promotion.
On the eighth rank.
The last pawn. All the others have fallen.

You should have surrendered earlier
And said goodbye to victory.
But you keep playing a role.
Until your king falls.

You built the game on lies.
Now finish it honestly.
The sunset of our game.
Checkmate to you.
